The first round of 2018′s Superenduro in Sanremo celebrated the beginning of the 10th anniversary season of the Italian Enduro Series,...
Last weekend was the first round of the Italian Cup in Sestri Levante, a well established and much loved location with its rocky trails overlooking the sea, and thanks to the excellent organization by the local fire brigade, Sestri has become a firm fixture in the Enduro calendar for many fans and riders.
Weather conditions building up to the race weekend were good, with rains alternating with dry days helped to improve the course, after very dusty practice days.
Valentina Macheda finished with a solid third place behind Anita Gerhig, and a fast Cecile Ravanel in first position. Manuel Ducci was unable to race due to his injury sustained two weeks ago, but was there as mechanic and supporter for Valentina and her Ibis teammmates Anita and Carolin Gerhig.
For Valentina it was a good weekend, showing real progression thanks to her experience in New Zealand at the EWS. After the first day, she was sit in fourth position but the second day of racing, fought hard for second place throughout the race, managing to get two second places on the stages and finishing in third position overall.
Sestri Levante is a race that I really like, there is always a high level of competition at this event, and it’s always frequented by international athletes. This year was even higher, I battled throughout the race to be able to get on the podium, but in the end I did it, I’m very happy with the result that I got, and I hope to continue in this direction, always trying to improve myself!
The next event for the team will be in Punta Ala for the first round of the European Enduro Series.
